"Growing good food, and people"

Kerri Wilson

My passion for sustainable agriculture began in Graduate School when I was hired as Farm Manager by the Robert A. Macoskey Center. Even though I had no agriculture experience, I learned quickly and fell in love with life on the farm. I began to shift my graduate work from Environmental Education toward a more garden –based focus. I coordinated an Elementary School Garden Club and created a K-5 Garden Curriculum Guide for Slippery Rock Area Elementary School. After graduating, I moved to Washington to be closer to the Cascades. In addition to my passion for agriculture I am an avid backpacker and outdoor enthusiast. I quickly sought out the agricultural community here and joined the YMCA Friends & Servants Program as Female Youth Program Coordinator. There, I mentored juvenile offenders in a farm-based, work experience program. This position allowed me to express my love for agriculture, while awakening a new passion for social justice. It was this discovery that prompted me to return to school to earn a second graduate degree in Public Administration. My position at Left Foot Organics has allowed me to express my two passions of agriculture and social justice, while providing applicable experience for my graduate study. I am excited and honored to be a part of this amazing program.

Storm Debris Clean Up Thanks!

Many thanks to Roy & Betty Wilbur and Jim Billi for coming to the farm to help with storm clean up. The Wilburs got the trees cut up and loaded into the truck and Jim and Jill worked on disassembling the greenhouse frame; no small task. There is more to be done but we got a start on it.
