We had a special visit from Governor Christine Gregoire and several of her staff on July 16. They came out to the farm to volunteer, and they were serious about getting down to work! After introductions and a tour given by crewmembers Mandi and Glenn, the Governor and her staff got out in the field and weeded the cucumbers. The whole group's eagerness to jump right in with our crew and help out was an inspiration.

They demonstrated the values and beliefs we hold dear at Left Foot--that there is dignity in all work, that everyone has a contribution to make, and that we respect all people and the land that sustains us. Thanks to Governor Gregoire for highlighting the importance--and fun!--of volunteering, and to the Volunteer Center of Lewis, Mason and Thurston Counties for bringing local nonprofit organizations and volunteers together.
