"Growing good food, and people"

News

We had a special visit from Governor Christine Gregoire and several of her staff on July 16. They came out to the farm to volunteer, and they were serious about getting down to work! After introductions and a tour given by crewmembers Mandi and Glenn, the Governor and her staff got out in the field and weeded the cucumbers. The whole group's eagerness to jump right in with our crew and help out was an inspiration.

They demonstrated the values and beliefs we hold dear at Left Foot--that there is dignity in all work, that everyone has a contribution to make, and that we respect all people and the land that sustains us. Thanks to Governor Gregoire for highlighting the importance--and fun!--of volunteering, and to the Volunteer Center of Lewis, Mason and Thurston Counties for bringing local nonprofit organizations and volunteers together. You're in the right place to find out how to volunteer at Left Foot, give us a call! Storm Debris Clean Up Thanks!

Many thanks to Roy & Betty Wilbur and Jim Billi for coming to the farm to help with storm clean up. The Wilburs got the trees cut up and loaded into the truck and Jim and Jill worked on disassembling the greenhouse frame; no small task. There is more to be done but we got a start on it.
